PART 1 – THE TIME OF THE GENTILES

 The “Time of the Gentiles”, let’s start with what JESUS Said in Luke 21:24:

“And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.”

Jesus puts the Gentile on a fixed time line with the word ‘until”.

One of first questions to ask is, when did the “Time of the Gentiles” start, and what is to be the final result?  The Disciples ask a similar question in Luke 21:7.

And they asked him, saying, Master, but when shall these things be? and what sign will there be when these things shall come to pass?

The reason for the question was based upon when some spoke of how adorned the temple was, and Jesus replied in Luke 21:6

As for these things which ye behold, the days will come, in the which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

Matthew 24:3 adds to these questions with a 3rd question:

And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

Jesus provides the answer in Luke 21:8-36:

And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.
But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by.
10 Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:
11 And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.
12 But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake.
13 And it shall turn to you for a testimony.
Paul, in Philippians 1:12-14 shows us his testimony in regards being persecuted and delivered up:
12 But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel;
13 So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other places;
14 And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.
Let us continue with Luke 14:
14 Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer:
15 For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.
Or be able to contradict or withstand!!
16 And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.
17 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake.
18 But there shall not an hair of your head perish
In Verse 18, Jesus is still answering the question that his disciples ask him in Matthews 24:3.  Here Jesus is telling the disciples about the END TIMES in regard to the Jews that are left during the tribulation.
Scriptures in support of this is:
2 Chronicles 16:9
For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars.

Psalms 34:7

The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.
Psalms 91:4
He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

Psalms 125:2
As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the Lord is round about his people from henceforth even for ever.

Let us continue with Luke 19:

19 In your patience possess ye your souls.
The word patience, or forbearing is the state of endurance under difficult circumstances.  Also, persevering in the face of delay or provocation without acting on negative annoyance/anger.  Or, demonstrating patience when under strain, especially when faced with longer-term difficulties.  Patience is also a character trait of being steadfast.
Also see Revelation 3:10
Let us Continue with Luke 20:”
20 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.
21 Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.
22 For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.
23 But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people.
24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.
25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;
26 Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
29 And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees;
30 When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand.
31 So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.
32 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.
33 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.
34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.
35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.
36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.
Luke 21:8 Bring in Daniel 70th week, which brings the Jews back into the timeline
Daniel 9:27:
27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
The covenant that is made will only last for one week.  This prophecy is primarily with the Jews, (Israel and Jerusalem)  The 70th week is meant to “finish” the transgressions (of who?  Not the Church/Body of Christ). Scripture provides clarity in Daniel 9:24:
Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

In verse 24, there are 6 things that will be finished.

I will be discussing next in Part one, 2 Chronicles 36:1:21.
